Sawdust ban stumps team

-

A CRICKET match was halted because of council fears that sawdust could give the players cancer.

Derbyshire players had requested sawdust be used to fill puddles during their clash at Glamorgan.

But Swansea council has banned it, as it has been linked to nose tumours and other cancers.

Derbyshire bowler Tony Palladino, 34, said: “I’m shocked a first-class venue doesn’t have sawdust.”

Despite fears of slipping in the wet, play went on.
