AGUERO AXED AFTER MUTINY FAILS

SERGIO SERG AGUERO will be dropped by Argentina Ar for their must-win match matc against Nigeria tomorrow. The Th Manchester City striker is one of several players to have declared dec war on coach Jorge Sampaoli Sam after taking one point from fro their first two games. But Sampaoli has won his battle to remain as manager after a dressing-room mutiny failed. And Aguero looks likely to pay the price for his role by being left out for the clash in St Petersburg.

City’s all-time leading scorer started the tournament with a bang, scoring a brilliant goal against Iceland, but was subbed in the defeat to Croatia. Several players are understood to have approached Argentine FA president Claudio Tapia to ask that Sampaoli be either sacked or for them to be given a voice in team selection.

But Tapia backed his manager – and Aguero will be replaced by Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Keeper Willy Caballero is also out – replaced by Franco Armani.
