William has a Kate day out in Jordan’s desert
AS he stands among Roman remains Prince William looks back in time – at a photo of his wife Kate as she visited the very same spot with her family as a child.
Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein accompanied him for the touching moment in the remains of the city of Jerash, one of the country’s top attractions. On his final day in Jordan, William saw performances from child refugees. Jordan, with a population of just 9.5 million, is home to more than 655,000 refugees.
He also took to a music mixing desk with young Jordanians in Al Quds College in the capital Amman. William then travelled to the north to visit a new base for the Quick Reaction Force, formed with British miliary support.
The Duke of Cambridge then flew to Israel to become the first British Royal to travel there on official business.
He was welcomed at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport by Israeli Tourism Minister Yariv Levin, the British ambassador to Israel David Quarrey and Israel’s ambassador to the UK, Mark Regev. He will go on to meet Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas.
Kensington Palace said: “The duke considers it a great privilege to be undertaking the first-ever official royal tour of Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”
