Bid to outlaw tariff rip-offs

-

LABOUR will tomorrow try to stop utility giants luring customers with cheap tariffs then moving them to pricey ones.

The practice has been dubbed “price and prejudice” as the old and poor are most likely to be victims of the rip-off.

The Labour amendment to a Bill in the Lords would force firms to cap the difference between their highest and lowest prices.

Labour spokesman Lord Grantchester said: “Too many households have paid over the odds for gas and electricity.”
