Argies have talent to get out of Messi

THIS Argentina side isn’t Lionel Messi and 10 others — there are plenty of players alongside him who also play for the best clubs in Europe.

So while everyone is pointing the finger at manager Jorge Sampaoli for the mess they appear to be in, ultimately Messi (right) and Co have to take responsibility for themselves.

I expect them to do that, hoisting their nation on to their shoulders as they beat Nigeria tonight and go through.

The manager can take some of the blame but whichever team you play for, you are responsible for the way you play your football.

Once you are on the pitch in international football it is down to you as a player directly to go out and try to replicate for your country what you do for your club.

For Argentina’s players, the excuses have to stop, because they are good enough to go to the latter stages of this tournament.
