ONE extra year in school can make people sharper into their 80s, says a study.

IQs were up to five points higher than pupils who left a year earlier, data from 600,000 revealed.

Edinburgh University’s Dr Stuart Ritchie said: “The boost seemed beneficial across the lifespan.”
