Parents jailed for sex with son

A COUPLE forced their 11-year-old to indulge in sex with them as they were afraid he might be gay, a court heard.

The father told police he wanted to keep his son “on the straight and narrow”.

The pair, now in their 60s, routinely humiliated the boy with sexual assaults.

Reading crown court heard that when the victim told police in 1998, he was not believed. After he complained again when in his 30s, his claims led to the parents being convicted of a string of sex offences.

Judge Maria Lamb jailed the stepmother, from Lincolnshire, for nine years, telling her: “You performed sexual acts on a boy who considered you his mother.”

The father, of Weymouth, Dorset, was sentenced to six years. After the hearing, the victim said: “If my story can reach just one other person, I will be happy.”
