Labour to axe Army recruiter
LABOUR will today vow to scrap a £44million-a-year Army recruitment deal with outsourcing giant Capita.
Shadow Defence Secretary Nia Griffith will say: “Capita’s recruitment contract is failing on every measure.
“It is not doing its basic job of recruiting more people to the Army and it is ripping off the taxpayer too. The next Labour government will take this failing contract back in house.”
Ms Griffith has said Labour would review all defence outsourcing contracts.
Army manpower has plunged to 77,000, leaving it 5,000 troops below its 82,000 target. The deal with Capita was due to end in 2022.
