Can I give some advice to the woman who is upset over her daughter’s boyfriend (Dear Coleen, June 6)? You say they’re thinking of getting engaged but, in my experience, men like that are all talk and no action.

I was dating someone who sounds a lot like him. Many a time I wished I’d listened to my mum because she was right all along. Giving advice doesn’t have to mean an angry confrontation. I hope she listens. Jackie, via email
