Let’s put Boris to work in NHS

- IANHYLAND

There was a big surprise on BBC1’s Celebrities On The NHS Frontline. They sent a politician to work in an NHS hospital and she didn’t once blame a rival party for the failings she saw.

That wasn’t the only shock Ann Widdecombe provided.

Thanks to the 70th birthday tributes I’ve watched a few NHS documentaries recently but I struggle to think of anyone who has cut to the heart of the issue as clearly she did when she said: “The best people to tell you what needs to be done are the people on the ground doing it.”

It got me thinking how great it would be if the parties made MPs go and do what Ann did.

They wouldn’t have to film it. I know Boris Johnson working as a hospital porter would be TV gold – but this is far too serious an issue.

That mob in Westminster need to see for themselves what is going on and discover why Ann posed this question:

“The NHS is picking up all the problems of society and we’re seriously expecting them to cope?”
