1899: The Headingley ground in Leeds was used for Test cricket for the first time when England and Australia fought out a low-scoring draw. 2009: Wimbledon’s new Centre Court roof was used in a match at the tournament for the first time after rain interrupted the clash between Dinara Safina and Amelie Mauresmo. 2011: New Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas confirmed Roberto Di Matteo as his assistant first-team coach at Stamford Bridge. Di Matteo (left) would later succeed Villas-Boas and guide the club to a Champions League and FA Cup double. 2015: Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech completed his protracted move to Arsenal on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee. 2017: Preston’s Simon Grayson was appointed Sunderland’s new manager on a three-year deal.
