BRITISH tennis star Jeremy Bates had the match of his life at Wimbledon but his dream died on Centre Court.

Bates took Frenchman Guy Forget to five sets in the battle to face John McEnroe in the quarter-finals.

But the Brit ended up losing 6-7 6-4 3-6 7-6 6-3 in an epic match which lasted almost four hours.
