Pension-pot predators to keep conning
THE Government has missed its own deadline to ban cold-calling crooks who con the vulnerable out of pension pots.
It should have started today but will now not be active until the autumn.
It gives fraudsters extra time to scam victims out of life savings with phone calls offering bogus pension reviews and dodgy investments.
Already £43million has been stolen from pension savings – sparking the Treasury to promise reform 18 months ago.
Ex-pensions minister Baroness Ros Altmann said: “So many people have suffered– and they almost all start with a cold-call.
“The sooner cold-calling for pensions is outlawed, the sooner people will be better protected.”
