Smuggled lad hidden inside case in boot
A MAN tried to smuggle a teenager into the UK in a suitcase stashed in his car boot, a court heard.
Romanian Andrei Iancu, 20, was arrested when the Vietnamese boy was found by Border Force officers in Dover on May 30.
They first discovered bags of crisps and several cases in the Skoda’s boot.
James Bloomer, prosecuting, told Canterbury crown court: “When some bags were moved the officers noticed an arm protruding from a case.”
The stowaway, thought to be 16, had severe dehydration and began fitting.
Iancu later said they met at a service station and he transported him for cash. The boy is now in care.
He admitted peoplesmuggling and was jailed for 18 months.
