Warning water taps may run dry Smoke gets into ministers’ eyes
BRITAIN faces a water shortage as high demand saw taps run dry in thousands of homes and emergency bottles handed out.
Some homes and schools in Guildford, Surrey, had no water EMERGENCY Bottles handed out due to a “technical issue” at Thames Water and there were outages in nearby Haslemere. In Derbyshire, Severn Trent Water asked customers to take shorter showers and avoid using the hosepipe. GOVERNMENT ministers fiddled in London while Saddleworth Moor burned.
Obsessed by Brexit, they couldn’t - or wouldn’t - see the black clouds of smoke drifting over Greater Manchester.
It took eight days for them to react to this developing crisis. If this firestorm had happened on the South Downs or the Surrey Heathlands, where Tory politicians have their constituencies, it would have been a different story.
