‘1970s’ are already here

We are forever being told by the Tories and some sections of the media that if Labour under Jeremy Corbyn get into power, they will take us back to the 1970s. And yes, no one wants to return to those times when Britain was in crisis and there were no bin collections, the NHS was falling apart and there were continual problems with the rail service.

But hang on, we’re suffering like this anyway because of the austerity policies employed by Theresa May’s Tory Government.

Forget the 1970s, the Tories, if they could, would take us back even further as they seem to be fixated with their 19th century ideology. Gordon Legg, Southampton
