RUSSIANS ARE (OVER) COMING

RUSSIAN authorities compared the jubilant scenes on the streets of Moscow following their last-16 victory over Spain to the celebrations at the end of World War II.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the comparison was understandable “from an emotional point of view” and said the scenes of joy after the game were “reminiscent of the events seen on May 9, 1945” when Russia helped defeat the Nazis.
