Vote Leave faces police spend probe

-

POLICE could launch a probe into Vote Leave after it emerged the campaign broke the law.

The elections watchdog is expected to find the official pro-Brexit group broke spending rules during the 2016 referendum. It could face fines of up to £80,000.

It is claimed a donation of £680,000 was made to a youth Brexit group called BeLeave.

It is alleged the money was actually used for the benefit of Vote Leave, to pay data firm Aggregate IQ for targeted messaging services.

Labour MP Chuka Umunna said: “We know they lied – we now know they cheated, too... Very serious implications.”
