Lad charged over death of Alesha, 6
A TEENAGE boy has been charged over the death of Alesha MacPhail, six.
The 16-year-old remains in custody and is expected to appear in court today.
Det Supt Stuart Houston praised the community for their help with the case.
He added outside Rothesay police station: “The people of the Isle of Bute have rallied together since Alesha was reported missing on Monday.
“Social media speculation relating to members of the community is misleading and inaccurate.”
He also said Alesha’s family had shown “incredible bravery”. Her body was found in woodland hours she was reported missing.
The 16-year-old boy was arrested on Wednesday night. He is to appear at Greenock sheriff court.
