Vapers warned of holiday jail as more nations impose bans
VAPERS risk up to 10 years’ jail if they pack e-cigs for some holiday hot spots.
Parts of India have effectively banned vaping and one man was jailed for three years under a law dating from 1940.
Thailand has given jail terms of up to 10 years for bringing e-cigs or refills into the country and users in the Philippines face up to four months under a new ban.
Lebanon, Cambodia and Vietnam followed suit but potential penalties there are unclear.
Around 2.8 million Brits vape and James Dunworth of E-Cigarette Direct urged them to be aware of the law when travelling. He said: “Don’t let a nice getaway turn into a get-lockedaway. Check before you go.”
Vaping is also banned in the UAE, Singapore, Indonesia, Jordan, Oman, Egypt, South Africa, Malaysia, and some Australian states.
