Drunk spit passenger jailed

A DRUNK airline passenger who caused a flight to be diverted after he spat at and threatened cabin crew has been jailed.

Uche Ezedinma repeatedly abused staff, lit a cigarette and punched overhead lockers. The Virgin flight from Gatwick to St Lucia was diverted to the Azores where police arrested him. Ezedinma, of Croydon, South London, was jailed for 14 months at Lewes crown court for being drunk in an aircraft.

Detective Sergeant Patrick Sweeney, of Gatwick Investigations, said Ezedinma’s behaviour was “totally unacceptable”.
