YOU SAY
I’d like to offer a few suggestions in addition to the emotional support you gave the reader who feels her eczema ruins her chances of getting a date (Dear Coleen, June 13).
After a life-long struggle with the condition, I’ve been eczema-free for 22 years. The same things don’t work for everyone, but here’s what helped me: Dead Sea Salts in a little warm water, dabbed on to the skin with a facial pad, a good basic (lanolin-free) aqueous cream to moisturise day and night, Argan oil shampoo, drinking plenty of water and always using hypoallergenic make-up.
I also had food allergy tests and cut out certain things as a result – dairy, citrus fruits and red wine.
These days I’m complimented on my skin, but it was a very different story 22 years ago, so keeping to the dos and don’ts has worked for me.
