Jor luck is changing

-

APART from being genuinely pleased for England when they scraped through, I was especially relieved for one player after the exhausting drama of Tuesday night.

I would have felt so sorry for Jordan Henderson if his penalty miss – which was a brilliant save by David Ospina – had proved decisive.

Henderson (above) has had a good tournament, and after the crushing diappointment of the Champions League final with Liverpool, that would have been too much punishment for one lad in the space of six weeks.

TAILORS, menswear manufacturers and designer labels will be falling over themselves to offer Gareth Southgate new waistcoats when he gets home.

Before and after David Beckham’s heyday, football has never been short of models for the latest clothing trends.

But who would have thought it? Gareth Southgate, fashion icon.

For what it’s worth, I think he’s carried the look rather well.

I have no idea whether he should leave the bottom button of his waistcoat unfastened to conform with gentlemen’s etiquette – and I care even less.
