Benidorm shooting crackdown

BENIDORM has launched a police crackdown to keep holidaymakers safe after a British tourist was injured in a shooting.

Stop and search operations are set to increase in Spain’s Costa Blanca resort.

Bars will be banned from using street staff to hand out drinks offers as dealers pose as them to sell drugs. It comes after three men, including the Brit, 42, were hurt in a suspected drug gang feud in a tourist hotspot on Wednesday night.

Security chief Lorenzo Martinez said: “It affects the image of Benidorm, that is something we’re not going to permit.”
