Mum’s the word now for Rodina
EVGENIYA RODINA and Serena Williams are worlds apart – underlined by the fact they have never even spoken.
But when it comes to one aspect of their lives, Rodina (right) knows exactly how her illustrious fourth-round opponent (left) feels. The two will meet on Centre Court today in the mother of all clashes between the last two mums left in the draw.
And the Russian, who had daughter Anna in 2012, said: “I know how tough it is to come back to tennis after having your first child. There aren’t many women on the tour who are mothers so we communicate with each other, we talk about things, but I haven’t spoken to Serena yet.”
But both being mothers is pretty much where the similarities end. Williams has earned a staggering £125million in prize money during her career, making world No.120 Rodina’s £1m from 15 years look paltry.
