Dad burnt by e-cig blast in his trousers

- BY EMILY HALL

A DAD of six narrowly avoided skin grafts after his e-cigarette battery pack blew up in his pocket.

Jason Curmi’s jeans and pants were shredded.

He suffered borderline second and third-degree burns on his right thigh.

Recovery practitioner Jason, 46, from Greenwich, South London, has been off work for three weeks.

Jason said: “I lost a lot of skin. It’s a miracle it didn’t do more damage, to be honest. It could have set me on fire.”

Chinese firm EFest, which makes the battery packs, failed to comment.

Smokers are more likely to switch to vaping if they are offered fruit flavours the Centre for Substance Use Research in Glasgow, found in a study of more than 20,000 US vapers.
