SOME 32% of trainee doctors feel exhausted before even starting work for the day, a poll found.

And 24% of trainees and 20% of trainers feel burnt out, according to the General Medical Council.

The regulator’s poll also found around half always or often felt worn out at the end of the day.

Long and intense shifts are hitting their “training experience and personal wellbeing”, the GMC said.

Chief Charlie Massey added: “It will take investment to solve the issues.”

Shadow Health Minister Justin Madders blamed the “crisis” on the Tories.

Health Education England is “committed to improving” matters.
