This angst-ridden school drama is fast proving to be one of the most entertaining on telly. With comedy to balance out the tragedy and trauma, it’s a bit soap-like, which makes for addictive viewing.

In tonight’s episode everyone is reeling after Sami was stabbed to death. The school gathers to plant a tree of commemoration but someone’s nicked it.

Meanwhile, Missy (played by the brilliant Poppy Lee Friar) has never had a real relationship, so when Aaron (Adam Fielding) blurts out that he loves her, she freaks out.

“We were getting on great, then he goes and ruins it,” she moans.

And elsewhere, a string of text messages circulate around the school revealing all too much about Hayley’s relationship with Riz. Missy, standing up for her sister, kicks off, and before you know it, there’s a fight.

But that’s just standard behaviour at Ackley Bridge.
