- BY JESSICA BOULTON

THE boyfriend of Love Island star Sophie Gradon has been found dead, five days after her funeral.

Aaron Armstrong, 25, was discovered at his home in Blyth, Northumberland, early yesterday.

Police said there was no one else was involved. Sophie, 32, died after a long battle with depression. Aaron discovered her body at her parents’ home in Newcastle on June 20.

His death came days after he wrote a touching tribute to his girlfriend following her funeral last Friday. In an Instagram post, Aaron called it “the hardest day of my life”.

He added: “You will shine so bright up there my angel. See u on the other side.” In another message, he wrote: “My heart will be yours until the day I join you. I’ll see u very soon my angel.”

A friend of Aaron’s yesterday posted: “My heart goes out to your family. God bless them both.” Sophie, a former Miss Great Britain, had told how she had struggled with trolls since taking part in the ITV2 show in 2016.

She had said in an interview that online bullying could “end up with that victim taking their own life”.

Northumbria Police said: “On July 10, police received a report that a 25-year-old man had been found deceased. There is not believed to be any third-party involvement and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.”
