BARMY ARMY

You’d be crazy to miss Tate’s speedball in Hackwood

-

INVINCIBLE ARMY can march back to form to lift the Group 3 bet365 Hackwood Stakes (3.00) at Newbury today.

The James Tate-saddled colt ran below par when finishing ninth to Eqtidaar in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last month, having

been fractious at the start. But his mulish display was most out of character – Invincible Army’s career prior to Ascot showed him to be a reliable and progressive performer.

On his return to the fray for 2018, the son of Invincible Spirit had beaten Eqtidaar in the Group 3 Pavilion Stakes at Ascot – a victory that earned him a 3lb penalty for today’s six-furlong dash. And my selection then missed out by the narrowest of margins when a nose second to Sands Of Mali in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock.

A reproduction of either of those efforts will put Luke Morris’s mount in the firing line this afternoon.

Another horse on a retrieval AMAZING RED, mission is who is taken to account for 17 opponents in the JLT Handicap (2.25).

Sent off at 11-2 for the Northumberland Plate on Newcastle’s Tapeta three weeks ago, Ed Dunlop’s son of Teofilo returned 10th of 20 behind favourite Withhold.

Amazing Red had been progressive earlier in the summer, however, with victories at Newmarket and Kempton, and is worth another chance.

He hasn’t run since finishing second in a Group 3 contest at Meydan in January, but EMOTIONLESS

(above) still looks to hold the aces in the opening Listed bet365 Stakes (1.50).

At Newmarket, the application of a visor ALWAYSANDFOREVER, should help beaten a short head in the Pontefract Castle Fillies’ Stakes last time out, go one better in the Listed Aphrodite Stakes (2.45). L’INGANNO FELICE

The upwardly mobile gets the nod in the Listed 188Bet Summer Handicap MORE Hurdle (2.05) at Market Rasen, while BUCK’S

has plenty going for him in the Listed 188Bet Summer Plate Handicap Chase (3.15) at the Lincolnshire venue.
