TOUR HAVE & TOUR HOLD.. Champ cyclist Geraint buys stunning wedding venue
THIS classy Italianate villa is the perfect wedding venue for couples after some domestic bliss for their guests.
For when Welsh hero Geraint Thomas is not pedalling to glory in the Tour de France he is peddling wedding packages at the house where he and Sara wed.
The couple bought St Tewdrics House in Mathern, Monmouthshire, for £2.5million, in 2015 and got married there that October, with Geraint’s team-mate Chris Froome among the guests.
Geraint, 32, said: “When we were looking for a venue for our wedding we didn’t want a hotel, we wanted somewhere which would be just for our guests.
LOVE
“That’s when we thought of buying a place, to have our wedding there and then turn it into a business afterwards.
“We came across this place and instantly thought, ‘Wow’, and we just fell in love with it.”
Sara, 27, manages the sixbedroom venue, which costs from £4,950 to hire.
Her dad Eifion Thomas, said: “Geraint played a huge part when we started St Tewdrics because the financial implications starting a business like this are immense.
“It’s pretty good he’s doing quite well on his bike as it pays the bills, or it certainly did at the start.
“Sara had the vision and continues to have the vision for the business we want to build.
“But Geraint, as he holds the purse strings, could be considered the boss.”
