RAF drone pilots save Syrian refugee convoy
AN Islamic State plot to slaughter refugees fleeing the Syrian war has been smashed by RAF drone pilots.
A spy plane spotted five assassins planting IED devices on a road just a few miles ahead of the colony of civilians.
Officers at a base thousands of miles away realised the imminent danger and triggered a Hellfire missile strike from a Reaper drone patrolling the Syrian skies.
The terrorists were all killed moments before the civilians arrived at the booby-trapped spot.
A senior RAF source said last night: “With the refugees in danger this quick decision and precision strike undoubtedly saved many innocent civilian lives. “This is proof, if it were needed, of the value of our drones.”
The strikes were launched by pilots either at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire or US Air Force Base Creech in Nevada. There are 10 Reapers patrolling above Syria and Iraq. STRIKE Reaper drone
