Kane & able to help

Congratulations to Harry Kane and fiancee Katie Goodland on the arrival of their new daughter Vivienne. The England captain announced it on Twitter, praising Katie for having a water birth “with no pain relief at all”. But Harry might be interested to know that the leading cause of death among pregnant women and new mums is suicide – and unrealistic expectations don’t help. Pain relief protects mind and body and makes childbirth happy rather than traumatic. If Kane wants to set a good example, he should tell his 2.3 million followers that self-harm, anxiety and depression spread through new mums like forest fire. And the most important thing about being a parent is not how you do it, but that everyone is still alive at bedtime.
