A THRESHER shark leaps from the water off the coast of Torquay in Devon, a very rare sighting in the UK.

They are usually found in warmer waters, but the recent heatwave has brought them towards Britain’s shores.

This one was 11ft long and seen by Robert Hughes. He said: “I was waiting for a dolphin to jump. I had the camera MISSION RNLI boat saves teen

ready when the thresher came right into shot.” Meanwhile, four teens were rescued by the RNLI and police when they got trapped on rocks by the tide in Watergate Bay in Newquay, Cornwall.
