DOZING TIGERS ROAR TOO LATE

INCOMING Warriors coaches Adrian Lam and Shaun Edwards (below) watched as Wigan held on to second place despite a Castleford fightback.

Warriors cruised to a 20-0 halftime lead through Liam Marshall, Gabe Hamlin, Dan Sarginson and Ryan Sutton. Sam Tomkins and Morgan Escare kicked a goal each.

Jacob Trueman struck for the visitors and although an Escare penalty put Wigan 22-4 up, James Clare crossed and Jamie Ellis converted. When Paul McShane crashed over, Ellis’s goal cut the gap to six points. Tomkins booted a penalty, Mitch Clark replying for Castleford with try on the whistle.
