PAIN IN SPAIN FITS MAC WELL

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

ANGUS MACDONALD was so determined to hit the ground running for Hull he was out of the blocks early in the summer.

Rather than watching the World Cup with his feet up, was among a group of players who went to Spain for a punishing fitness camp before starting pre-season training.

This campaign is a big one for the centre-back, who aims to nail down a spot in Nigel Adkins’ new-look defence.

And after the missing the end of last term with a shoulder injury, MacDonald was on a mission to make sure he was in tip-top shape for the Tigers, who visit Sheffield Wednesday today.

“You don’t want to go back to your club having done no work at all and being last in some of the runs and looking really unfit,” said the 25-year-old (above).

“You need to be fitter, faster. Nobody wants to be left behind if they care about their careers, so there are a lot of these camps springing up around the world. Players are trying to get that extra edge.”

JMACDONALD’S camp was powered by fitness app Freeletics and boutique London gym chain The Foundry. More information @freeletics and @FoundryFit on Instagram.
