THE DIARY

- with Ashleigh Rainbird

Never take career advice from a potential rival in your field. And especially – if you’re an actor – not from Mark Hamill. The Star Wars icon had some sage suggestions for young whippersnapper Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“I told him to lose his accent for a wider range of roles and to change his last name since no one could pronounce it,” he admits, regretfully.

“He did the opposite and became one of the biggest stars ever.”

“I just happen to be a rule-breaker,” boasts Arnie – who is now so famous he can be identified by just “Arnie”.

Orgies. Drug binges. You name it, chef Prue Leith has done it and merrily told the tale.

Sadly, now she’s on primetime TV, she’s been advised to keep her more sordid stories to herself.

“All sorts of things happen like requests to make hash brownies on Great British Bake Off, and that just can’t happen,” she laments to Event magazine.

Prue – who also got in trouble for turning up to last year’s final wearing a “What Would Mary Do?” apron in homage to her predecessor, Mary Berry – has previously admitted sampling LSD and hiding hash in dried herbs for pop group The Hollies.

It’s very unlikely that Mary would do that.

When Spice World was released in 1998, every seven-year-old wanted to ride the Union Jack bus – even with Meat Loaf driving.

Harper Beckham has been introduced to the 1990s phenomenon while holidaying with Victoria and is now “obsessed with the Spice Bus” and wants her own “little Gucci dress”, according to mum, who surely has some cast-offs she can have. Though even little Harper, seven, questioned mummy’s camouflage dress in the army scenes.
