In Tuesday’s article How We Get Back On Track, Christian Wolmar asserts that the Office of Rail and Road told Network Rail to cut timetable staff and felt it “an unnecessary luxury”.
At no point did we tell Network Rail to specifically cut its timetabling staff. Added to this, for Network Rail’s 2019-2024 plans, we have approved extra resources and budget for the timetabling function. Chris Hemsley, ORR Deputy Director for Railway Markets and Economics
