I’m Lind mood for new start

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

VICTOR LINDELOF hopes his successful summer can act as a springboard for him at Manchester United.

Lindelof endured a testing first campaign at United last season, making only 14 Premier League starts after his £31million move from Benfica.

The centre-half had a better summer and helped Sweden reach the World Cup quarter-finals – and he got married.

Lindelof, 24, has returned full of confidence and keen to make more of an impact at Old Trafford this season.

“I feel great,” he said. “I had a good summer. First, I got married and had an amazing time, then I played in the World Cup, which was also a great experience.

“And after a good rest, I’m ready for what’s to come. It’s always nice to get a good start, as that gives you more confidence and you can be more relaxed.”

Lindelof started in United’s opening victory over Leicester and says it was key to get off to a winning start.

“It’s a very competitive league with a lot of great teams,” he said. “We have to get that winning mentality in every game.”

Lindelof’s prospects were helped when United’s deadline-day move for Diego Godin broke down when the Uruguay World Cup star snubbed them.

They were left suspecting Godin had used them as leverage for a new contract at Atletico Madrid.
