FASHION guru Susannah Constantine was so worried about appearing on Strictly Come Dancing she broke down in tears.
The candid TV presenter, 56, confessed: “The first night I was crying, saying, ‘I don’t know why I’m doing this. I’ve made such a mistake, and I’m so bad.’” Fortunately some stern words from her What Not to Wear co-host Trinny Woodall sorted out her nerves. Susannah said: “I speak to Trinny every day, if not three times a day. “She gave me a kick up the a**e and told me to get on with it, because I’m lucky to be on Strictly.” Thankfully, Susannah’s early training for the challenging BBC One hit show have gone well. She has been partnered with Anton Du Beke, 52, who thinks she is a natural dancer. She impressed him so much in their first dancing sessions that he is making their opening routine more difficult.
Fans’ favourite Anton said: “We were in the studio for the first time and it was terrific. She was so good I thought ‘I will have to reassess this choreographically’.
“Once you get into the body of the dance you have to fill it up with proper dancing. During that moment you might have to disguise one or two things but I don’t think I will do that with Susannah. “I think we are going to have fun with our opening but our content will be proper stuff. Proper dancing.” “I think it will take a few people by surprise.” Anton also said he would dance with a man on Strictly, but wonders how same-sex couples would be judged. Speaking at the TV Choice Awards, Anton said: “My only thing is how they would judge it. It’s not the same as a boy and girl dancing together. “So from a prospective of judging it they’d have to find a criteria way of doing it. “Once they’ve done that I think it could potentially happen. “We’ll have to wait and see. If they give me a fella I’d give it a go, why not?”
