Teen driver gets 3 yrs over pal’s death in 70mph smash
A BOY of 16 has been locked up for more than three years after killing his friend in a horrific car crash.
The teenager sped at 70mph before losing control of a Volkswagen Golf and smashing into a parked car.
Passenger Liam Ball, 17, died and the driver fled the scene in Walsall, West Mids.
Two girls, both 14, were also hurt — one with a broken arm and the other with minor injuries. The driver, who cannot be named, was detained for 38 months after admitting causing death by dangerous driving. He had no licence but got a five-year ban. Prosecutor Jason Corden-Bowen told Wolverhampton crown court: “His actions resulted in the death of one of his passengers.” Liam’s family later said: “Our little man left us too soon and will leave a big hole in our family and hearts.”
