CAHILL HAS CHANCE TO BE A SAINT

- BY ROB COLE BY DARREN LEWIS

Those who made their mark in the top flight (Wolves, Reading, Fulham) 2004-10 (Man Utd) 2005-12 (Spurs) 2005-08 (Middlesbrough) 2007-08 (West Brom) 2008-09 (Wigan) 2009-11 (Bolton, C Palace) 2009-18 (Sunderland) 2011-14 (Cardiff) 2012-15 (Swansea, Newcastle) 2012(QPR) 2013-16 (Tottenham) 2015- Min SEAN MORRISON spent the summer praying Harry Kane would score for England.

But at Wembley today he will be trying to stop the Tottenham striker hitting the target for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Just a few months ago, the Cardiff skipper was wearing an England shirt at home, backing Kane and Co in Russia.

Now he faces his own “90-minute battle” against him. Plymouth-born Morrison said: “I don’t think you will get a better goalscorer in the country than Harry Kane.

“His link-up play is fantastic and as a No.9, I don’t think there is a better striker in the country. He is also one of the best strikers in Europe as well.

“I was right behind him with my England shirt on in the summer, cheering him on. He was fantastic for England at the World Cup and I was a fan, willing on the boys.

“It was a shame they couldn’t get it over the line.”

Cardiff have not won a game this season, Morrison’s defence leaking 16 goals in seven games.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard plundered a hat-trick against them and Sergio Aguero got one of Manchester City’s five.

Now Morrison (above) must shackle the man he believes is the best in the business as he aims to give Neil Warnock something special with which to celebrate his second anniversary at Cardiff.

He added: “I always dreamed as a kid of playing against the best players. Harry is one of those.

“For me to step up against him and have a 90-minute battle is something I will remember – hopefully for the right reasons.” SOUTHAMPTON are interested in Chelsea and England defender Gary Cahill.

The Saints take on the resurgent Blues at St Mary’s tomorrow, having won just once in the top flight this season.

They have kept only two clean sheets in the Premier League so far and also conceded late goals in the home defeat by Leicester and a home draw with Brighton.

On Tuesday Mark Hughes’ side also shipped a late goal in their Carabao Cup tie at Everton, but went through on penalties.

Cahill (above), 32, has won every domestic honour with Chelsea, but admitted he is considering leaving Stamford Bridge in January in search of regular first-team football.
