Jim chalks up victory over stress
JIMMY ROBERTSON admits he had to conquer his nerves to turn his snooker career around.
The 32-year-old claimed an emotional first ranking title at the European Masters in Belgium with a 9-6 win over Joe Perry.
Robertson used to be viewed as a soft touch – as he buckled under the pressure of the big time.
But he says he has managed to overcome his negative emotions with the help of coach Martin Perry.
Robertson, said: “I have been working with Martin for about 18 months now, and it has done wonders.
“Something had to change. Every time I got on a big stage, I was panicking.
“Martin gave me tools for controlling that, and without giving away all the details, of course you want to do like that cliche – play like it means nothing when it means everything.”
