VICTIMS Delia & Anthony Green THE British couple killed in flash floods in Majorca had been trying to get to their hotel in a taxi.

Ex-headteacher Anthony Green, 77, and wife Delia, 75, died alongside driver Juan Sillero when their car was swept off the road to the resort Cala Bona.

They were among 10 people who perished as torrential rain hit the east of the Balearic island.

The Greens, originally from Atherton, Greater Manchester, retired in Moffat, near Dumfries.

They had three children, who said in a statement last night: “We are deeply shocked by the sudden passing of our parents.

“Delia and Tony were a loving, kind and caring couple. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. Our thoughts also go to their taxi driver and his family.”

Rescue workers found the car submerged in the resort of S’Illot in the early hours of Wednesday.

Yesterday teams were hunting for two Germans and a boy, five. ■ At least one driver was feared dead after cars were swept out to sea near St Tropez, in the South of France, in storms yesterday.
