Compo payout for neighbour held after Arena bomb blast
A WOMAN wrongly arrested during the Manchester Arena terror probe was paid compensation, a report revealed.
The unnamed 35-year-old was held under terror legislation two days after suicide bomber Salman Abedi killed 22 people in May 2017.
In his annual review of terror legislation, Max Hill QC said “Subject G” was “resident next door to a significant address in ATROCITY Bomber Salman Abedi the investigation”. She was arrested and interviewed for 36 minutes, and her home was searched.
Police established the woman was not involved and she was released after seven hours and 40 minutes.
Mr Hill said: “I understand she has received compensation because the police accepted the arrest was, in effect, collateral damage: she was at the wrong place, at the wrong time.”
