GOAL-HUNGRY CUBS AT EUROS

- IT’S SO EZ BY DAVE ARMITAGE

ENGLAND booked their Euro 2019 place with an emphatic display of goal power.

Aidy Boothroyd’s boys went into the game needing only a point to make sure they would be at the tournament in Italy and San Marino.

But they were not in the mood to take any chances and had Andorra on the ropes right from the start.

Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin (above) scored either side of half-time to add to goals from Ademola Lookman, Ezri Konsa, substitutes Dominic Solanke and Reiss Nelson, plus an own goal from Christian Garcia to finish it all off.

Manchester City wonderboy Phil Foden made an accomplished debut in a midfield which completely swamped the visitors from the word go.

From the moment Lookman shot the Lions’ cubs into a ninth-minute Euro U21 Qualifying: Group 4 lead the writing was on the wall for Andorra. He cashed in with a close-range shot and but for keeper Francisco Pires, it could have been an even bigger hammering.

He made a flying save to beat away a Calvert-Lewin header then denied Foden before the visitors’ defence was breached again in the 21st minute.

Pires managed to stop Lewis Cook’s shot from distance, but was powerless to prevent Konsa slotting in.

And right on the stroke of half-time, Lookman took advantage of the keeper’s hesitancy and squared the ball for Calvert-Lewin to slam home.

Three minutes after the break, Calvert-Lewin helped himself to another goal, smashing in a penalty after a foul on his team-mate Konsa.

Solanke and Nelson got in on the act with two goals in the last nine minutes, before Andorra’s Garcia bundled into his own net.
