Villagers glad Poldark crew on their way

- BY ADAM ASPINALL

RESIDENTS of the village where Poldark is filmed say they are happy the production teams are leaving.

Botallack, a former tin mining area in Cornwall, has provided the backdrop for the BBC drama with Manor Farm used as the setting for Nampara.

But locals claim the annual arrival of the lorry convoy effectively shuts down their community.

Caroline Williams, 39, an accountant, said: “I am definitely not sad that it has ended. The cliffs have been closed off and they drive around like lunatics.”

Rachel Ewer, 81, added: “We can once again enjoy the peace and quiet.”

And resident Simon Thomas said carers had to plead to visit clients. He said: “They were made to wait for up to a hour.”
