UNIVERSAL DISGRACE

It comes to something when not one, but two former Prime Ministers from opposing parties speak out in 48 hours over the “burning injustice” of Universal Credit.

Yesterday, John Major – who as the PM during the poll tax should know – said this of Universal Credit. “If you have people who face that degree of loss, that is not something the majority of the British population would think of as fair, and if people think you have removed yourself from fairness then you are in deep political trouble.”

Gordon Brown, also turned his considerable firepower on the Government over UC. “Surely the greatest burning injustice of all is children having to go to school ill-clad and hungry.”
