VERDICT ON DRESS
PRINCESS Eugenie had a very particular request for her dress – she wanted to show off the scars from scoliosis surgery she had at age 12.
British design duo Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos fashioned her stunning long-sleeved number. It featured a V-neck line with foldover detailing and a low back, a voluminous skirt and dramatic train.
Heavy with symbolism, the gown boasted a thistle to represent Balmoral, a shamrock for the Fergusons, the York rose in a nod to her family name, and ivy in honour of the couple’s Ivy Cottage home.
Shunning a veil, she wore the Queen’s Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara, made by jeweller Boucheron in 1919, featuring a 93.7 carat stone.
