Geoff builds wooden tank
ON TRACK Geoff and tank A CARPENTER has made a life-sized First World War-era tank – from wood.
Geoff Armstrong, 58, started making the 28fttall replica of the 29 tonMark IV in January.
It is made of plywood, a plastic tube for a gun and plaster of Paris rivets.
He has spent 500 hours on the centenary project, which can be seen at Carlisle Castle in November.
Geoff, of Brampton, Cumbria, said: “It’s just me with saws and a measure.”
